1. Lok Sabha Passes Bill Recognising Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh Capital

The Lok Sabha passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 on 1 April 2026.
The Bill proposed explicit legal recognition of Amaravati as the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh by amending the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
The measure was intended to provide long-term legal certainty regarding the location of the State capital.
More than 29,000 farmers had contributed over 34,000 acres through the land-pooling system for developing the Amaravati capital region.
The government stated that approximately 91 infrastructure projects worth more than ₹56,000 crore were being implemented in the capital region.
The 1 April 2026 development represented passage of the Bill in the Lok Sabha and marked an important stage in the parliamentary process.

2. Andhra Pradesh Included in National Rare Earth Corridor Programme

In a Lok Sabha reply given on 1 April 2026, the Union Government confirmed that Andhra Pradesh would be included in the proposed Rare Earth Corridor programme.
Dedicated corridors were proposed in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The programme will focus on exploration, mining, mineral processing, research, recycling and manufacturing of products based on rare-earth elements.
A Joint Working Group was constituted to prepare standard procedures and an implementation framework for the corridors.
Rare-earth elements are important for electronics, electric vehicles, renewable-energy equipment, defence systems and advanced technologies.
The proposal is intended to reduce import dependence and strengthen India’s domestic critical-mineral supply chain; it remained at the planning and guideline-development stage in April 2026.

3. All-India Workshop on State Income Held in Visakhapatnam

An All-India Workshop on State Income and related regional accounts was held in Visakhapatnam from 8 to 10 April 2026.
The workshop was organised by the National Accounts Division of the National Statistical Office under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
Approximately 125 officials and statistical experts from the Union Government and 31 States and Union Territories participated.
Discussions focused on adopting 2022–23 as the new base year for national and State income estimates.
Participants examined the use of GST, e-Vahan, Public Financial Management System and other administrative databases for preparing reliable economic estimates.
The workshop aimed to improve uniformity, transparency and comparability in Gross State Domestic Product and District Domestic Product calculations.

4. Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Clears Projects Worth ₹39,437 Crore

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approved 65 investment and policy proposals worth approximately ₹39,437 crore on 10 April 2026.
The proposals covered information technology, electronics, semiconductors, clean energy, manufacturing, tourism, data centres and advanced technologies.
A major proposal involved an investment of approximately ₹10,239 crore by RRP Electronics for a semiconductor facility in Sri Sathya Sai district.
Quantum-technology projects involving C-DAC, PQStation and Quantum AI Global were approved for the proposed Quantum Valley in Amaravati.
The Cabinet also considered projects connected with ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, Shyam Metalics, renewable energy and industrial manufacturing.
A policy framework for granting deemed electricity-distribution licences to eligible strategic data centres was approved, subject to regulatory clearance.
The Cabinet also approved the establishment of a health-sector Disease Monitoring and Decision-Making Centre.
The proposals were expected to generate investment and employment, although many remained at approval or implementation-planning stages in April 2026.

7. NTR Sports Stadium Inaugurated in Tirupati

Minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated the NTR Sports Stadium at Gollavanigunta in Tirupati on 15 April 2026.
The stadium was developed over approximately 9.5 acres at a cost of nearly ₹10 crore.
Facilities include floodlights, five practice pitches and courts for volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho and ball badminton.
The main pavilion has a seating capacity of approximately 5,000 spectators.
A sports-development centre named after Nara Rammurthy Naidu was also inaugurated at Chandragiri at a cost of approximately ₹3 crore.
The foundation stone was laid for a weightlifting academy named after Olympic medallist Karnam Malleswari, strengthening sports infrastructure in the Tirupati region.

8. Andhra Pradesh Intermediate Results Released

More than 10 lakh first-year and second-year students appeared for the examinations.
The State recorded its highest Intermediate pass performance in approximately 12 years.
Krishna district emerged as the leading district in overall performance.
Girls achieved a higher pass percentage than boys in both first-year and second-year examinations.
Recounting and reverification applications were scheduled from 20 April 2026, while supplementary examinations were planned from 21 May 2026.

9. Digital Self-Enumeration Begins for Census 2027

Digital self-enumeration for the House Listing and Housing Census began in Andhra Pradesh on 16 April 2026 and continued until 30 April 2026.
Residents were allowed to submit household information digitally before the field-enumeration phase.
The system used mobile-number authentication, geo-tagging and a unique self-enumeration identification number.
The regular House Listing and Housing Census was scheduled from 1 to 30 May 2026.
Approximately 1.1 lakh enumerators and supervisors were trained through more than 2,200 training batches.
The exercise covered 28 administrative census districts, 669 mandals, 83 statutory towns, 228 census towns and about 16,862 villages.
Mobile applications were made available in 16 languages, with offline data collection and validation features.
The population reference date for Census 2027 was fixed as 1 March 2027.

10. Bhagiratha Jayanti Declared a State Festival

భగీరథ జయంతికి రాష్ట్ర పండుగ హోదా

The Andhra Pradesh government announced on 16 April 2026 that Bhagiratha Jayanti would be officially observed as a State festival.
The observance will be held annually on 23 April.
The principal State-level celebration for 2026 was organised in Kurnool.
The Backward Classes Welfare Department was assigned responsibility for coordinating celebrations across districts.
The decision recognised the cultural importance of Bhagiratha Jayanti to the Sagara community.
The government stated that the observance would promote the values of determination, sacrifice, public service and social unity.

11. Jaladhara–Jalaharati Water-Conservation Mission Accelerated

జలధార–జలహారతి నీటి సంరక్షణ కార్యక్రమానికి వేగం

The Andhra Pradesh government reviewed the mission-mode implementation of Jaladhara–Jalaharati on 19 and 20 April 2026.
Nodal officers were appointed in every mandal to coordinate water-conservation and water-management works.
The programme includes restoration of tanks and canals, removal of silt, strengthening of drainage systems and storage of monsoon water.
Temple tanks and traditional water bodies were also proposed for restoration under the initiative.
Special attention was directed toward improving drainage and preventing waterlogging and floods in vulnerable districts.
The programme aims to improve groundwater recharge, ensure water availability for agriculture and reduce electricity use for groundwater pumping.
Local communities, farmers, officials and voluntary organisations were encouraged to participate in conservation works.

12. New Local-Cadre Presidential Order Republished

Through G.O. Ms. No. 45 dated 20 April 2026, the Andhra Pradesh government republished the Andhra Pradesh Public Employment Organisation of Local Cadres and Regulation of Direct Recruitment Order, 2025.
The Presidential Order had originally taken effect on 15 December 2025 and replaced the earlier 1975 framework.
For public-employment administration, the State was organised into 26 districts, six zones and two multi-zones.
The Order provides a revised structure for organising local cadres and regulating direct recruitment to State government posts.
It was introduced to align employment zones and local-cadre arrangements with the reorganised district structure of Andhra Pradesh.
Detailed allocation of posts and employees under the revised framework required subsequent departmental implementation.

Andhra University conducted the concluding programme of its centenary celebrations in Visakhapatnam on 27 April 2026.
Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other dignitaries participated.
The Chief Minister announced government assistance of approximately ₹500 crore for the university’s future development.
Industry, alumni and other partners were encouraged to contribute toward creating an additional ₹500 crore development corpus.
A commemorative postal stamp and special coin were released to mark the university’s 100-year journey.
New academic and infrastructure projects were inaugurated, and agreements with national and international institutions were highlighted.
Established in 1926, Andhra University completed a century of contributions to higher education, research and public life.

14. Traditional Seed Festival Held in Araku Region

The 17th Traditional Seed Festival was held at Killoguda village in the Araku region of Alluri Sitarama Raju district on 28 April 2026.
Tribal farmers and women displayed indigenous seeds preserved by local communities over generations.
Participants carried traditional seed varieties in decorated earthen pots and bamboo baskets during a cultural procession.
The event highlighted millet, pulse, vegetable and other climate-resilient seed varieties used in tribal farming systems.
The festival aimed to protect agricultural biodiversity and preserve traditional knowledge relating to seed selection and storage.
It also encouraged farmers to reduce dependence on commercially supplied seeds and conserve varieties suited to local soil and climatic conditions.

Google formally broke ground for its proposed India AI Hub at Tarluvada near Visakhapatnam on 28 April 2026.
The project is being developed in partnership with AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel.
The proposed digital infrastructure ecosystem will have nearly one gigawatt of computing capacity.
The hub forms part of Google’s announced investment of approximately US$15 billion, or about ₹1.35 lakh crore, in India’s digital and artificial-intelligence infrastructure.
The project includes data-centre capacity, energy infrastructure and international subsea-cable connectivity.
Three subsea-cable landing systems were proposed to improve international digital connectivity from Visakhapatnam.
The project is expected to support artificial-intelligence research, cloud services, startups, high-skilled employment and local technology development.
The groundbreaking marked the beginning of development; the full hub was not yet operational in April 2026.

16. South Coast Railway Zone to Become Operational

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on 28 April 2026 that the South Coast Railway Zone would become operational from 1 June 2026.
The headquarters of the new railway zone is located in Visakhapatnam.
Andhra Pradesh received a railway budget allocation of approximately ₹10,134 crore for the relevant financial year.
Railway projects worth nearly ₹1.06 lakh crore were reported to be under implementation in the State.
Redevelopment works were being undertaken at 74 railway stations, while the State’s broad-gauge railway network had achieved complete electrification.
Approximately 1,759 km of railway works had been completed and around 3,300 km were under construction.
The new zone is expected to improve administrative coordination, infrastructure planning and railway services in Andhra Pradesh.
The operational date was a future implementation date announced in April 2026 and was subject to the formal notification and transition process.

17. All Government Services to Be Offered Online Through Mana Mitra

During a digital-governance review held on 29 April 2026, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to make all eligible government services available online by December 2026.
The services are to be integrated with the Mana Mitra WhatsApp-governance platform.
Approximately 1,035 government services had already been made available through digital systems.
Around 54 lakh people had used the platform to access approximately 1.78 crore services.
Nearly 24 lakh citizens had received guidance or training on using the digital-governance system.
The review also covered the Kurnool Drone City master plan, under which land had been allotted to eight companies.
The first phase of the proposed Drone City was targeted for completion by July 2026.
The programme aims to reduce visits to government offices, improve transparency and provide services through mobile-based systems.

18. Groundwater Levels and Reservoir Storage Improve

A State review released at the end of April 2026 reported an improvement in Andhra Pradesh’s average groundwater level.
The average groundwater depth stood at approximately 8.70 metres below ground level in March 2026, compared with 9.55 metres in March 2025.
This represented an improvement of around 0.85 metre across the State.
Rayalaseema recorded an average improvement of approximately 1.55 metres, while Coastal Andhra improved by about 0.57 metre.
As of 29 April 2026, major and medium reservoirs together held approximately 479.82 TMC, or 43.39% of their combined capacity.
Reservoir storage during the corresponding period of the previous year was approximately 423.38 TMC, or 38.29%.
The improvement was not uniform, as districts including Eluru and Sri Sathya Sai reported local declines in groundwater levels.
The findings underlined the importance of continued recharge, water conservation and regulation of groundwater extraction.

19. Andhra Pradesh SSC Results Record 85.25% Pass Rate

The Andhra Pradesh Secondary School Certificate examination results were released on 30 April 2026.
The overall pass percentage was 85.25%, compared with 81.14% in the previous year.
Girls recorded a pass percentage of 87.90%, while boys achieved 82.68%.
Government schools recorded a pass percentage of approximately 78.39%, improving from 72.8% in the previous year.
More than 6.40 lakh students appeared for the regular and private examinations.
Results were made available through the official examination portal, DigiLocker, LEAP, Mana Mitra and school headmaster logins.
A focused 100-day academic-support programme conducted before the examinations was credited with improving learning outcomes.
The results showed an improvement in overall performance, including the results of government-school students.

The April figures, released on 1 May 2026, showed year-on-year growth of approximately 12.08%.
Revenue increased by about ₹598.78 crore from approximately ₹4,945.92 crore in April of the previous year.
Net GST revenue was approximately ₹3,796.91 crore, recording growth of about 6.83%.
Petroleum-value-added-tax collections reached approximately ₹1,613.36 crore, an increase of about 26.72%.

పెట్రోలియం విలువ ఆధారిత పన్ను వసూళ్లు సుమారు ₹1,613.36 కోట్లకు చేరి, దాదాపు 26.72 శాతం పెరిగాయి.
వృత్తి పన్ను ఆదాయం సుమారు ₹42.90 కోట్లు కాగా, ఐజీఎస్టీ పరిష్కారం ద్వారా రాష్ట్రానికి దాదాపు ₹2,194.89 కోట్లు లభించాయి.
పన్నుల చెల్లింపులో లోపాలను గుర్తించేందుకు కృత్రిమ మేధ ఆధారిత పర్యవేక్షణ, డిజిటల్ చెల్లింపుల సమాచార విశ్లేషణను ఉపయోగించారు.
తగిన నమోదు లేకుండా వ్యాపార కార్యకలాపాలు నిర్వహిస్తున్న 20,000 మందికి పైగా పాన్ కార్డు దారులను తదుపరి పరిశీలన కోసం గుర్తించారు.
