1. South Coast Railway Zone Becomes Operational

దక్షిణ కోస్తా రైల్వే జోన్ కార్యకలాపాలు ప్రారంభం

The South Coast Railway Zone officially began functioning from its headquarters in Visakhapatnam on 1 June 2026.
With its operationalisation, South Coast Railway became the 18th railway zone of Indian Railways.
The zone consists of Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and Guntakal railway divisions.
The Visakhapatnam division was created from the Andhra Pradesh portion of the former Waltair division, while the remaining portion became the Rayagada division under East Coast Railway.
The new zone will manage approximately 17,000 railway employees and is expected to handle more than 500 passenger trains during peak periods.
It is expected to strengthen freight connectivity to Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada and the upcoming Mulapeta ports.

2. Andhra Pradesh Natural Farming Wins Food Planet Prize

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ప్రకృతి వ్యవసాయానికి ఫుడ్ ప్లానెట్ పురస్కారం

The Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming programme received the 2026 Food Planet Prize at Båstad in Sweden on 2 June 2026.
The international environmental award carried prize money of US$1.5 million.
The programme was recognised for reducing dependence on synthetic fertilisers and pesticides while improving soil health, biodiversity and climate resilience.
It works with approximately 18 lakh farming families and 3.40 lakh women’s self-help groups across Andhra Pradesh.
More than 10,000 community resource persons support farmer-to-farmer training under the programme.
Natural-farming practices developed in Andhra Pradesh are being shared with 22 Indian states and countries including Sri Lanka and Zambia.

3. Yogandhra–2026 Statewide Campaign Launched

యోగాంధ్ర–2026 రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్త కార్యక్రమం ప్రారంభం

The Andhra Pradesh government conducted the Yogandhra–2026 campaign from 7 to 21 June 2026 in connection with International Yoga Day.
The State set a target of involving one crore people in yoga practice and awareness activities.
A special budget of approximately ₹10 crore was allocated for infrastructure, publicity and district-level programmes.
About 5,600 yoga master trainers were selected to train nearly 2.5 lakh instructors.
Special programmes were planned at 56 tourism and heritage locations across all 28 districts.
The principal State-level programme was planned in Amaravati on 21 June 2026, with approximately 25,000 participants on the Krishna River West Bypass Bridge.

2026 జూన్ 21న కృష్ణా నది పశ్చిమ బైపాస్ వంతెనపై సుమారు 25,000 మందితో అమరావతిలో రాష్ట్ర స్థాయి ప్రధాన కార్యక్రమాన్ని నిర్వహించేందుకు ఏర్పాట్లు చేశారు.

4. APTET–2026 Notification Released

The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department released the APTET June 2026 notification on 5 June 2026.
Online applications and examination-fee payments were accepted from 5 June to 5 July 2026.
The computer-based examinations were scheduled from 5 to 21 August 2026.
The results were proposed to be released on 15 September 2026.
APTET qualification is required for candidates seeking teaching appointments in government schools under the applicable recruitment rules.
The notification provided separate papers and eligibility conditions for primary, upper-primary and specialised teaching categories.

5. Startup Incubator Ranking Framework Announced

అంకుర సంస్థల ఇంక్యుబేటర్ల ర్యాంకింగ్ వ్యవస్థ ప్రకటన

The State announced a formal recognition and performance-ranking framework for startup incubators at the Andhra Pradesh Incubators Summit on 5 June 2026.
The summit was organised by the AP Innovation Society and the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub.
Incubators will be assessed on startup support, innovation outcomes, ecosystem engagement, capacity building and overall impact.
The State’s hub-and-spoke model provides for a central innovation hub at Amaravati and regional centres at Vijayawada, Tirupati, Anantapur, Rajamahendravaram and Visakhapatnam.
The ranking framework is intended to improve accountability and the quality of mentoring, investment and business-support services provided to startups.
The summit brought together incubators, universities, investors, accelerators, industries and government agencies.

6. Southwest Monsoon Advances into Andhra Pradesh

The southwest monsoon advanced into parts of Andhra Pradesh on 7 June 2026.
Its arrival occurred while heatwave conditions continued in some parts of the State.
Lower-level southwesterly winds and favourable atmospheric conditions supported the further progress of the monsoon.
Seasonal rainfall was expected to be near normal in some districts and above normal in parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Several districts in Rayalaseema and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh were expected to receive below-normal seasonal rainfall.
The State Disaster Management Authority warned that intermittent dry periods or monsoon breaks could occur during the June–September season.

7. Fatal Explosion at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant

విశాఖపట్నం ఉక్కు కర్మాగారంలో ఘోర పేలుడు

An explosion occurred in the Steel Melting Shop of the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on 8 June 2026.
Eight workers were reported dead, while at least six others suffered serious burn injuries.
The incident reportedly occurred when a vessel carrying nearly 150 tonnes of molten steel at around 1,600°C burst and spilled molten metal onto the workshop floor.
Workers’ representatives alleged that safety protocols had not been adequately followed.
The National Human Rights Commission took suo motu cognisance of the incident on 11 June 2026.
The Commission sought a detailed report from the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary within two weeks, including information on compensation and the medical condition of injured workers.

8. AI Task Force Proposed for Revenue and Economic Monitoring

During a review held on 9 June 2026, the Andhra Pradesh government directed officials to establish an AI-powered economic and revenue task force.
The task force will analyse economic trends and assist in improving GST and other tax collections.
Departments were instructed to prepare monthly reports to track the State’s GSDP targets and Key Performance Indicators.
Monthly, quarterly and half-yearly data will be used to assess performance at State, district and field levels.
The government proposed a scoring system to evaluate departments based on target achievement and actual economic growth.
The initiative forms part of the data-driven governance strategy under Swarna Andhra 2047.

9. Web-Based Counselling Introduced for Doctor Postings

వైద్యుల పోస్టింగులకు వెబ్ ఆధారిత కౌన్సెలింగ్

The Andhra Pradesh government introduced web-based counselling for the postings of 392 newly recruited doctors on 12 June 2026.
The doctors were selected on merit under contractual appointments through the AP Medical Services Recruitment Board.
Of the total posts, 173 were assigned to Urban Health Centres and 99 to non-communicable-disease clinics.
Another 70 posts were allocated to newborn-care units, while the remaining posts covered nutrition, telemedicine and early-intervention services.
Candidates were allowed to select preferences across six categories of available posts.
The computer-generated allotment system was introduced to reduce human intervention and improve transparency in postings.

10. AI Pilot Launched to Detect Diabetic Retinopathy

డయాబెటిక్ రెటినోపతి గుర్తింపునకు కృత్రిమ మేధ ప్రయోగం

The State launched an AI-based pilot for detecting diabetic retinopathy in government hospitals on 11 June 2026.
The programme began at Guntur Government General Hospital and was extended to Kurnool Regional Hospital and Visakhapatnam Regional Eye Hospital.
Artificial intelligence analyses fundus-camera images to determine the severity of retinal damage and the need for specialist consultation.
Trained optometrists can screen patients and identify urgent cases even when ophthalmologists are not immediately available.
Approximately 9,000 patients were proposed to be screened at the three centres during the three-month pilot.
The system uses the Madhunetra AI solution, developed through national-level medical and technology partnerships.

11. App-Based Fertiliser Distribution Rolled Out

Andhra Pradesh introduced the AP Agricultural Input Management System for fertiliser sales during the Kharif season.
Between 8 and 13 June 2026, approximately 46,830 farmers purchased 2,58,144 bags of fertilisers through the system.
Andhra Pradesh became the first State to introduce an app-based fertiliser-sales policy on such a scale.
The platform integrates Webland and e-Crop information and recommends fertiliser quantities based on crops and land details.
Tenant farmers and cultivators without prior e-Crop registration can also purchase fertilisers after local verification.
Nandyal recorded the highest sales with 64,142 bags, followed by Nellore and Kurnool districts.

12. Housing for All Target Fixed for 2029

On 15 June 2026, the Andhra Pradesh government set a target of providing houses or house sites to every eligible family by 2029.
Under PMAY 1.0 and 2.0, approximately 15,82,260 houses had been sanctioned in the State.
Of these, about 9,46,544 houses had reached roof-completion stage and 6,10,548 units were under construction.
The expenditure roadmap for the sanctioned houses was approximately ₹20,260.74 crore.
An Awas Plus digital survey recorded nearly 10.42 lakh new applications for rural housing assistance.
Additional construction assistance was provided to eligible SC, ST, PVTG, BC and minority beneficiaries.

Andhra Pradesh had approximately 4.16 crore registered electors when the revision schedule was announced.

14. AP Maritime Board Headquarters Shifted to Amaravati

The Andhra Pradesh government declared Amaravati as the headquarters of the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board on 21 June 2026.
The Board’s head office was shifted from Kakinada to the State capital.
The office of the Chief Executive Officer and the Directorate of State Ports were also permitted to move to Amaravati.
Staff, records, assets and financial systems will be transferred as part of the administrative transition.
The relocation is intended to improve coordination with the Secretariat and departments handling industries, investments, ports and infrastructure.
Audit and accounting functions will be linked with the Pay and Accounts Office at Mangalagiri or Vijayawada.

15. State Drug Testing Laboratory Inaugurated

The upgraded State Drug Testing Laboratory and Drug Control Administration headquarters were inaugurated in Vijayawada on 19 June 2026, with the development reported on June 20.
The laboratory’s annual testing capacity increased from approximately 4,000 samples to 13,000 samples.
The facility is intended to detect substandard, counterfeit and spurious medicines at an early stage.
The Union Government had sanctioned more than ₹22 crore under a 60:40 funding arrangement.
The State reported spending approximately ₹11.3 crore during the preceding two years on the Vijayawada laboratory and facilities in Visakhapatnam and Kurnool.
The Drug Control Administration will also work with the Institute of Preventive Medicine to strengthen surveillance against adulterated food and medicines.

17. Retirement Age Raised and Old Pension Option Restored

On 23 June 2026, the Cabinet increased the retirement age of employees in State public-sector undertakings, Gurukul institutions and welfare societies from 60 to 62 years.
The decision brought these employees on par with regular State government employees in retirement age.
The Cabinet also approved an Old Pension Scheme option for approximately 11,000 eligible employees.
The pension decision applied to employees recruited before the relevant September 2004 cut-off who had remained outside the old-pension framework.
The measures were announced as part of the government’s employee-welfare policy.
Detailed departmental orders were required to implement the retirement and pension decisions.

19. ₹9.86 Crore Plan for De-Addiction Centres

On 26 June 2026, the State announced a ₹9.86 crore master plan to upgrade 16 de-addiction centres.
Centres at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Kadapa will be developed as advanced Centres of Excellence.
Of the total amount, approximately ₹8 crore was earmarked for civil works, counselling rooms and clinical furniture.
The remaining funds will be used to purchase ECG units, biofeedback machines and other medical equipment.
The State had 25 functional de-addiction facilities with 346 sanctioned posts, but more than 200 posts had remained vacant in 2024.
Recruitment had been completed for 57 professionals, while selection or verification was continuing for additional vacancies.

20. Pulse Polio Drive Targets 49.20 Lakh Children

The statewide Pulse Polio immunisation drive was launched on 28 June 2026.
The State aimed to administer polio drops to approximately 49.20 lakh children below five years of age.
Around 60 lakh vaccine doses and 1.33 lakh health workers were deployed for the programme.
Nearly 30,000 fixed vaccination booths and about 1,200 mobile medical vans were used.
Transit booths were established at bus stations, railway stations and other major travel points.
Children who missed vaccination on the first day were to be covered through house-to-house visits over the following two days.

22. President Attends Central Tribal University Convocation

President Droupadi Murmu attended the first convocation of the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh at Vizianagaram on 30 June 2026.
The President said the university should strengthen self-confidence, leadership and policy-making capabilities among tribal communities.
She emphasised grassroots work in tribal education, health, skill development, forest rights and livelihoods.
The university was encouraged to promote economic opportunities connected with forest produce, handicrafts, millets, medicinal plants and eco-tourism.
The institution is operating a Science and Technology Hub to support tribal communities in North Andhra Pradesh.
The President highlighted the university’s role in inclusive education, environmental protection and the national goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

The State had expanded from 13 districts to 26 districts in 2022 and later created Markapuram and Polavaram districts, taking the total to 28.
District-level employees will be divided according to sanctioned posts, population, workload, vacancies and administrative requirements.
Field-level employees will generally continue at their existing places of work until final allocation.
Departments were directed to compile information on staff strength, vacancies and requirements before completing the bifurcation.

మాతృ జిల్లాలు, కొత్తగా ఏర్పాటైన జిల్లాల మధ్య ఉద్యోగుల కేటాయింపు ప్రక్రియను ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ప్రభుత్వం 2026 జూన్ 30న అధికారికంగా ప్రారంభించింది.
జిల్లా పునర్వ్యవస్థీకరణ, సవరించిన జోనల్ వ్యవస్థకు సంబంధించిన అనుమతి అనంతరం ఈ ప్రక్రియను చేపట్టారు.
2022లో రాష్ట్రంలోని 13 జిల్లాలను 26 జిల్లాలుగా పునర్వ్యవస్థీకరించగా, తరువాత మార్కాపురం, పోలవరం జిల్లాలను ఏర్పాటు చేయడంతో మొత్తం జిల్లాల సంఖ్య 28కి చేరింది.
మంజూరైన పోస్టులు, జనాభా, పనిభారం, ఖాళీలు, పరిపాలనా అవసరాల ఆధారంగా జిల్లా స్థాయి ఉద్యోగులను విభజించనున్నారు.
తుది కేటాయింపు వరకు క్షేత్రస్థాయి సిబ్బంది సాధారణంగా ప్రస్తుతం పనిచేస్తున్న ప్రాంతాల్లోనే కొనసాగనున్నారు.
ఉద్యోగుల సంఖ్య, ఖాళీలు, శాఖల అవసరాలకు సంబంధించిన వివరాలను సిద్ధం చేయాలని అన్ని శాఖలను ప్రభుత్వం ఆదేశించింది.
